A cassava box that puts a young Haitian to work. Join the Konbit ($90/quarter, a dollar a day) and your money builds a gold stake as it funds the youth, or buy boxes as a guest ($120 a box). Box quarterly, story monthly, traceable to the farm and the youth it employs.
Apply / SubscribeIn December 2024, UNESCO inscribed cassava bread making on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Haiti is one of the five nations that carried that nomination. Kasav is not just food... it is recognized world heritage. This summer, SAKALA's youth farms in Cite Soleil turn that heritage into jobs.
You subscribe, quarter to quarter. SAKALA youth grow, harvest, and mill the cassava at the community farms in Cite Soleil... the largest green space in the area. Boxes ship by ocean freight from Port-au-Prince, clear US customs duty-free, and arrive at your door every quarter. Between boxes you get the monthly story by email: which garden, which cohort, what your money funded. Data over time, not promises.
A Kasav Box youth hire is not only a farm job. SAKALA summer positions train the next generation of food growers, enumerators, civic actors, and environmental mitigators... the JOB FOR PEACE model, working.

This is Community-Supported Agriculture: you are a member of a working farm program in Haiti, not only a customer. Harvest, weather, port operations, and conditions in Haiti can affect timing; a late box is credited or extended, never silently absorbed. Products are produced at an FDA-registered facility and imported under US FDA and FSVP compliance (BARSS LLC, importer of record). Cassava is naturally gluten-free. Quarterly billing; cancel any time before your next billing date. Approximately 35 percent of each subscription covers production, freight, customs, and delivery; the remainder funds SAKALA youth wages and program costs, and we publish the numbers to subscribers monthly. Subscriptions are purchases, not tax-deductible donations.
